Folly Beach Vacation Rentals
byDunes Properties
In Liz’s collection, you’ll find everything from huge oceanfront homes and curated collections of interconnected properties for large groups to cozy beach cottages and one-bedroom condos outfitted with all the upgrades. The incredible locations, whether oceanfront, a block from Center Street, or on the peaceful Charleston River, allow you to truly discover Folly Beach.
Each home is light and bright with breezy coastal-inspired interiors, natural elements like wood and wicker, and expansive open floor plans. You can expect huge windows with plenty of natural light, gleaming hardwood flooring, and neutral designs with beachy-hued accents like aqua, navy, and fun but tasteful pops of color to brighten each space. Coastal decor like palm-leaf fans, shiplap walls, beachy glass tile, driftwood coffee tables, and surfboard wall art accentuate the beach location and ocean views.
State-of-the-art designer kitchens are often the heart of the home, with enormous kitchen islands that inspire gathering and all the extras you deserve on vacation, including double sinks and double ovens, beverage fridges, ice makers, and beautiful dining spaces to accompany them. Some homes even have private elevators to whisk you from floor to floor to discover elegantly appointed suites and bright, cheerful bunk rooms.
The amenities in Liz’s home are designed for true beach enjoyment and entertainment. You’ll find features like private pools with waterfall features, poolside cabanas and tiki bars, multitudes of sunny decks overlooking the ocean, cozy covered porches with ceiling fans, and expansive rooftop terraces. Game rooms with pool tables, skee ball, and ping pong accompany cutting-edge entertainment rooms – you may even encounter a poolside putting green. Every day is an adventure at Folly Beach.

Hanging out on Center Street, visiting Morris Island Lighthouse, and running on the beach from end to end to see the sunrise or sunsetLocally owned and operated, Dunes Properties began as a real estate company in 1989. They quickly transitioned to vacation rentals that same year when Hurricane Hugo created a need for boots on the ground to help take care of the many damaged homes in the Charleston area. Today, Dunes Properties manages over 175 properties on the Charleston coast.
Originally from Columbia, South Carolina, Liz Bernthal grew up visiting Charleston and its beautiful beaches with her family. So it was only natural that as soon as she graduated from college, Liz found a beach shack on Folly Beach and stayed indefinitely. She loves the relaxed atmosphere and “aggressively casual” feel of this idyllic beach town and is always eager to share it with families who choose to make vacation memories at Folly Beach.
Since joining Dunes Properties in 2010, Liz has worked in every role from guest services to property manager to her current role as Vice President of Vacation Rentals, allowing her a deep understanding of the company. Today, she leads a dedicated local team with hospitality at its core, who truly appreciate being a small part of their guests’ beach memories.
Being in business for so long, the Dunes Properties team takes pride in the product they offer, putting their heart and soul into taking care of their properties, homeowners, and guests. Liz and her team always maintain the personal touch, encouraging guests to come by the office and say hello, and staying in touch throughout their visit. When you stay with Dunes Properties, you’ll feel that genuine hospitality from the first phone call through your trip and beyond.
Just south of Charleston, Folly Beach, South Carolina provides a laid-back atmosphere and old-school beach town charm that draws families year after year. The pristine beaches are full of surfers, Center Street is lined with souvenir and surf shops, you’ll find live music around every corner, and there are no chain restaurants in sight.
That’s why Liz Bernthal, VP of Vacation Rentals, is proud to call Folly Beach home.
