Enjoy Clemson sporting events and spend lots of time outdoors hiking and paddle boardingClemson graduates who met and fell in love in college, got married, started a family, and embarked on a new business venture hand-in-hand… that’s Lee and Jill Thompson. Originally from Charleston, Jill grew up surrounded by the hospitality industry and worked for a vacation rental company on Isle of Palms, but with her engineering degree, she didn’t plan to pursue a career in hospitality. Lee grew up in the other Charleston – West Virginia – and after moving to Clemson he fell in love with the area.
After separate careers and managing long-term rentals, Lee and Jill decided to take a gamble and delve into vacation rentals, founding Clemson Vacation Rentals. That gamble paid off, as they became more and more ingrained in their community and began slowly growing by word of mouth. Before they knew it, Jill and Lee were bringing the same level of hospitality they’d experienced in Charleston to the Upcountry of South Carolina.
When you stay with Clemson Vacation Rentals, you’ll get a truly local experience, with morning coffee from the local coffee shop, a snack basket featuring items from the town’s bakery, and personalized recommendations from a boots-on-the-ground team who genuinely care. High quality and cleanliness are crucial to Jill and Lee, so they established in-house laundry, rigorous cleaning procedures, and high standards for every home and amenity.
What comes through most when you talk with Lee and Jill is just how much they love their community and care about helping guests dive deeper into their experience. As they grow, they’re excited about increasingly being able to share what’s special about their community and its many hidden gems with others, but in a way that benefits both locals and guests. Because once you discover the Upcountry, you’ll definitely want to return.

These are just some of the reasons Lee and Jill Thompson, Owners of Clemson Vacation Rentals, are proud to call the Upcountry of South Carolina their home.
