St. Simons Island Vacation Rentals

Originally from Wilmington, Delaware, Kris Maichle craved warmer weather and island life. After college, Kris moved to Captiva Island, Florida, and South Seas Resort, to begin his career in hospitality. Kris gained experience in every detail of hospitality, from the front desk to housekeeping to food and beverage. As he cultivated his expertise, Kris pursued a General Manager training program, and ultimately was enticed to St. Simons Island.

Hodnett Cooper has existed since the early 1980s. Founder Roy Hodnett first visited St. Simons Island with his family in 1968, fell in love with the community, and purchased a home. In the early 1980s, he helped broker the sale of one of the first condominium communities on St. Simons. With the help of his daughter, Pat Cooper, the business rose to the forefront of vacation rental and residential real estate.

Kris has been a vital part of the Hodnett Cooper family for 16 years and is a predominant part of the business's success. Today, he is a partner and oversees the vacation rental company and association management company, managing over 300 short-term rentals and 12 homeowners associations. While the separate real estate division is the largest in the county, the vacation rental business prides itself on being dedicated solely to vacation and short-term rentals on St. Simons Island.

Kris’s team includes dedicated staff, many of whom have grown with the company for 25 years or more, further proof of the commitment that sets them apart. Kris loves St. Simons because of its quintessential southern hospitality, a vibrant community where neighbors become friends and families socialize and explore the island activities together.  Kris’s team extends that sense of community and southern hospitality to guests, with a dedicated concierge and personalized service beyond expectations.
