Eight Best Restaurants in Asheville

Published: August 13, 2025

Asheville, North Carolina, restaurants are known for incorporating locally sourced ingredients and giving immense attention to even the most minute details. This has led them to develop quite the reputation as a desirable location for foodies and dining connoisseurs.

In fact, Asheville is known by many as “Foodtopia,” which is a well-earned moniker to be sure. This is thanks in part to the eight best Asheville restaurants you must try when in the area, as highlighted by Greybeard Rentals Vacation Rentals:

Chestnut

48 Biltmore Avenue, Asheville, NC

Chestnut is the offshoot of another beloved restaurant, the Corner Kitchen in Historic Biltmore Village on the Biltmore Estate. After the success found there, owners Joe Scully and Kevin Westmoreland decided to launch another local favorite and their second restaurant, Chestnut. Each and every item is handcrafted and incorporates many products from local growers, dairies, cheese makers, and ranchers. Even the ice cream and sorbet are handmade on site.

Chestnut has quickly become a popular eatery, but what truly sets it apart is the fact that the owners and chef continue to change their dinner menu on a monthly basis. Thankfully, some of the most beloved items, like the Calamari & Kale Salad, Scratch-Made Lobster Bisque, and the beloved Charcuterie, stick around. This menu rotation gives the Chef the freedom to create new dishes and utilize what locally sourced ingredients are in season.
