Boating and spending time at the beachKris Maichle, originally from Wilmington, Delaware, always dreamed of trading cold winters for coastal weather. After college, he moved to Captiva Island, Florida, where he began his hospitality career at South Seas Resort. From front desk operations to housekeeping and food and beverage, Kris immersed himself in all aspects of the industry. His passion for service led him through a General Manager training program, eventually bringing him to the shores of St. Simons Island.
For over 20 years, Kris has been an integral part of the Hodnett Cooper family. Today, as a partner, he oversees the vacation rental and association management divisions, managing more than 300 short-term rentals and 12 homeowners associations. While the real estate division remains the largest in the county, the vacation rental side stays focused on doing what it does best—helping guests experience the very best of St. Simons Island.
Kris leads a close-knit team of dedicated staff, many of whom have been with the company for 25 years or more, a testament to the loyalty and care that set them apart. What Kris loves most about St. Simons is its classic Southern hospitality and the way the community feels like one big family, where neighbors become friends and families connect over island adventures. That welcoming spirit shines through in the way his team takes care of guests, offering personalized service and a dedicated concierge to make every stay unforgettable.
